Movie review: Triangle

Saw this flick yesterday. Dunno why but the main actress reminded me somewhat of Miley Cyrus. But that's not what bothered me the most about this movie. Spoilers to come: It's main idea is definitely nice, and probably something that was done in many other flicks. Groundhog Day to mention one. A certain scene in the beginning of the movie, where you discover why it was called Triangle, serves both as kickoff and as ending. So every other scene is basically part of a huge story loop that gets closed in the end of the movie. There is also some sort of inner loop that envolves the boarding of the group of main protagonists to the big ghost ship.

There is one fundamental problem about this approach, that hasn't been addressed by the story's author: If your story is meant to be a looped, the main protagonists must be by some mechanism unable to learn. At least those surviving single iterations. Because otherwise it would be very unlikely for them to repeat every of their active steps that helped keeping the exact repetition of the story in each iteration intact. And in my opinion, unfortunately, the behaviour of the main female character after realizing the repetitions doesn't resemble any sort of clever logic of any kind.

Another flaw is the car crash scene somewhere close the end of the movie. I have no idea, why after being smashed into a big truck there is a completly unharmed copy of the main actress that stands behind the debris of her car.

Oh and the scene where she first sees herself, or at least a copy of herself, uncovered... Disappointing. I don't know what to do, if I would see an exact copy of myself, but just staring around saying nothing and then trying to escape doesn't sound likely at all.

Anyway except for these points the movie was kinda enjoyable and it's always nice, if writers at least try to make certain obvious patterns, so the person watching the movie can try to make some predictions.
